Epolitics is back from a pandemic-era slumber! If you’re new to the site, welcome. I’m Colin Delany, the founder/editor, and since 1996 I’ve been working at the magic place where politics and the internet collide. I launched the current incarnation of Epolitics.com* in the summer of 2006 with a mission to cover the craft of digital politics and advocacy in depth. Since then, the site’s hosted more than 2600 individual articles by more than 80 guest authors and me, covering everything from AI to websites to advertising.
I’m excited to get Epolitics running regularly content again as a website and (now) a Substack, though I have a lot tweaks to make before the site’s fully up to snuff. Epolitics also serves as the hub of my digital strategy practice — I’ve been lucky to work with some great organizations and political groups over the past quarter of a century. Epolitics is also the home base for my digital campaigning guide, “How to Use the Internet to Change the World – and Win Elections”, which I’ve been updating every election cycle for over a decade now. Check out the 2024 edition for a truly comprehensive overview of how people can use the internet to change policy, change minds and change officeholders right here and right now.
For longtime readers, thanks for your patience. I’ve kept writing regularly for CampaignsAndElections.com, but I simply burned out early in the pandemic on keeping an online publication going week after week. I’ve also continued working as a consultant, including launching a slew of digital ads every fall supporting down-ballot Democrats via The Hometown Project.
Epolitics will feature a host of new articles over the next few weeks, and I’ll also be revisiting the reservoir of ideas I’ve stored up at C&E, in presentations and in the ebook during the site’s hiatus. I’d love to feature your work as well! If you have an idea for an article, send it my way and let’s talk it through and see if it’s a good fit.
Also in the works? New trainings and online discussions about topics particularly important in an election year, including digital campaigning, digital advertising and digital GOTV. Keep an eye out for the invitations.
Thanks again for being a part of this new chapter in the Epolitics journey! Let’s rock & roll.
